From November 3 to 5, Coloma + Armengol participated in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2026, held at Fira de Barcelona, an international meeting point for professionals, companies and institutions working to drive the digital transformation of cities.
Over three days, we shared our expertise in BIM and digital twins, explored initiatives related to urban innovation and connected with professionals and organisations from different countries.
Our participation allowed us to continue showcasing the work we do at C+A while gaining new perspectives on the challenges of digitalising the built environment.
Sharing Knowledge About the Future of Cities
Immersive Cities and Digital Twins
The first day featured presentations by Joan-Marc Garcés Sabaté and Eloi Coloma at the Agora Space in the Catalonia Pavilion.
Joan-Marc Garcés shared his vision for the future of immersive cities and the opportunities offered by digital technologies to develop new ways of interacting with urban environments.
Meanwhile, Eloi Coloma presented the potential of digital twins for the management of facilities and infrastructure, highlighting the opportunities that integrating digital models and information offers to improve our understanding and management of built assets.
These two presentations reflect one of Coloma + Armengol’s key areas of work: exploring how BIM technology, information management and digital innovation can contribute to more efficient urban planning and management.
International Connections and Knowledge Exchange
Meetings with Delegations from Belgium, France, Brazil and Italy
Another highlight of our participation was the opportunity to connect with professionals and representatives from different countries.
At our stand, located within the Government of Catalonia’s exhibition area, we welcomed delegations from Belgium, France, Brazil and Italy, with whom we exchanged experiences and discussed the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation.
Among these meetings, the Belgian delegation showed particular interest in digital twins and the metaverse, two areas opening up new possibilities for visualisation, simulation and management of built environments.
The international scope of the congress allowed us to discover different approaches to urban innovation and identify shared areas of interest with other organisations.
Participating in Catalonia’s Innovation Ecosystem
During the congress, we also attended the presentation of CoBIMCat, held at the Catalonia Pavilion, providing an opportunity to continue promoting digitalisation and innovation in the construction sector.
The opening day also welcomed representatives from the Government of Catalonia, including Albert Tort, Secretary for Telecommunications and Digital Transformation.
These activities highlight the importance of collaboration between public administrations, companies and professionals in encouraging the adoption of technologies and methodologies that contribute to modernising the sector.
The Value of Sharing Knowledge and Building New Connections
Beyond the presentations and technological developments, Smart City Expo also provided an opportunity to strengthen professional relationships and gain first-hand insights into the interests and concerns of other organisations.
International congresses facilitate initial connections that can often be difficult to establish in everyday professional life: meeting people face to face, discussing common challenges and identifying potential areas for collaboration.
Although these meetings are only a first step, they provide a valuable starting point for continuing to share knowledge and developing long-term professional relationships.
An Experience That Inspires Us to Keep Moving Forward
We conclude our participation in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2026 with a positive assessment of the experience and fresh perspectives on the evolution of digital technologies applied to cities.
We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand, the professionals with whom we exchanged ideas and the international delegations that showed interest in our work.
At Coloma + Armengol, we remain committed to digital transformation that goes beyond technology, based on efficient information management, collaboration between stakeholders and the practical application of knowledge.
We take away new ideas and connections that encourage us to continue exploring the potential of BIM and digital twinsto contribute to more efficient, connected and sustainable cities.
